I just had a big fucked up loss, 10 years after my last big fucked up loss. Maron does his thing so well its usually harder to see the throughline of vulnerability throughout his sets, but in this one it is palpable, probably uncomfortably so to some, but that adds to the comedic tension. It's also new territory for his voice, which is a sad blessing. I, the viewer, was just there with him, rapt. The dark joke was just what I needed, one week later. Perfect. Amen. More.

I was really wondering about the format of this for a while but enjoying the ride. A ton of small, dirty jokes and good crowdwork that made for fun storytelling even when the content wasn't for me (I need to stop putting this disclaimer in, there is no comedian who is like "my content is Rachel's soul content, that's not the point), then jeez SOCKED with the coda. The audience shot! The callback! The WeeBey-OOOOHHHH of it all. Pathos.
