Color Out of Space

Color Out of Space ★★★

Richard Stanley returns to the director chair after mostly been absent since the 1996 disaster that was the Island of Dr Moreau( that he was fired from) to give us this bonkers film based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft and with another insane performance from Nicolas Cage(reminiscent of his recent performances in Mom & Dad and Mandy)  and delivers the most loyal to Lovecraft adaptation in terms of feel and story direction. Some may not love where the story goes implementing body horror, odd acting and this crazy color palette but Stanley’s willingness to go where he thinks the story needs to go and Cage’s ability to go there (as well as good performances from Joely Richardson, Madeleine Arthur, the Schmoedown’s own Brendan Meyer and even a fun cameo from Chong), Color Me Out Of Space should be commended for its great blend of sci- fi and horror even though it might not be for everyone.
