This is only the 2nd studio ghibli film I've seen in theaters. Just like 90% of Miyazaki's past works, this is as fantastical as the others.
The film deals with grief, acceptance and malice, with humor and heartfelt moments sprinkled throughout.
Robert Pattinson's performance as the Heron should be lauded. He is so good and it's refreshing to see an A-list actor actually trying to voice-act unlike some other actors recently.
I want to see it again both in English and Japanese eventually.
