At a hot dog stand with his younger brother after asking out Alana at school, zoning out:

Gary: “I met the girl I’m gonna marry one day Greg.”
    Greg: “Oh yeah?”
Gary: “And you’re gonna be my best man.”

After saying thanks to Jack Holden and getting up to leave, with him stopping her at the door:

“You know? You remind me…of Grace.”
Alana, like a starstruck eight year old:
    “Kelly?”

Upon meeting Gary, Jon Peters pulls him aside:

Raging Bull is an obvious masterpiece, but that this won Best Picture over it is fine though.

Timothy Hutton’s portrayal as the son in this is about as honest and on point a depiction of how mentally instable, disconcerted, and even lonely a person can be in the throes of grief and tragedy.

Before with the likes of trans prostitutes floating through the sun beamed, superficial streets of LA (Tangerine), then motel dwelling young children underneath the shadow of Disney World (The Florida Project), and now with Red Rocket, his hysterical character study of a charismatic yet egotistical porn star’s return to his Texas hometown and his increasingly gear grinding presence on his friends and neighbors, Sean Baker is definitely one of the most insightful and original auteurs alive today, in depicting the…

A vibrantly colorful, ominously Mica Levi scored, torn and pasted from Twitter feed true account in dialogue and character of a broke waitress’ horribly gone wrong trip to Florida with an exotic dancer she made an increasingly regretful decision befriending.

Foreknowledge or not of A’Ziah King’s sensational viral thread circa 2015 shouldn’t tarnish its hysterical, bad to terrible absurdity that belts the contemporary influences of Harmony Korine and Sean Baker.

And on a casting note, Nicholas Braun plays Cousin Greg as a tag-along, white boy stoner while Colman Domingo plays a loose cannon pimp that Ali from Euphoria would be a wise soul against.

Having made just three films so far (this, Birth, and Under The Skin), Jonathan Glazer is certified as one of the best, if yet unsung directors alive today, if not ever.

Added to that, Ben Kingsley plays a mobster in this that makes Joe Pesci look like a Catholic priest.

What’s to be said that hasn’t already been?
Dune is our modern day Lord Of The Rings. Going into this knowing there’ll be a part two (Dune Messiah), and in faith a part three (Children Of Dune), it’s about as immense and visionary an adaptation as movies could possibly be. I wouldn’t bother seeing it and it’s ensuing installments any other way except in IMAX.
And we all thought that theaters would perish in the midst of the pandemic.
