    “Dang it, you smell like Happy Minnie’s back in Omaha.”

    Barbara Stanwyck brings a lot of life and guts to Annie Oakley. Truly believable as a strong sharpshooting woman, she’s immediately likable and fun to cheer on. Pert Kelton also adds a lot of charm to the film - I only wish I got to see more of her.

    “Behold me in all my glorified glory - I’m radiant - I’m beautiful!”

    This movie is ahead of its time and I’m pleased it’s withstood the test of time. Gloria Swanson and Raoul Walsh give outstanding performances. Their chemistry is sweet to watch and the environment Walsh and Swanson create makes me feel like I’m another  patron at the hotel who is tuning in to the drama.

    I thoroughly enjoyed First Blood - it touches on a reality some veterans faced after Vietnam. Yes, the reality is presented in exaggerated terms, but I felt the drama paralleled with the emotional turmoil in transitioning back from war. Rambo's breakdown at the end of the film was powerful and captured PTSD well.
