Lars Sieval’s review published on Letterboxd :
That scene between Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams is freaking nerve wrecking, terrifying to watch. It is such an amazing scene.
Not only that, the whole film is amazing. It's so hard and difficult to watch but not in a bad way. You feel for Lee Chandler (Casey Affleck) and what really helps is Casey's performance. He will never top this it's perfection. His chemistry with Lucas Hedges is off the charts. Hedges plays Patrick Chandler. The son of his brother and he is now his guardian.
Lee has to go back to his past which he rather would not. You feel his pain throughout the film. Alongside the beautiful shots, music, basically everything, you feel his pain. It's makes you sad. At least it made me sad. But the mysterious thing is it made me feel sad in a special way. Movie magic I suppose?
Kenneth Lonergan's Manchester by the Sea is one special film full with epic performances and a great story. I loved it.
