I always see horror movies with my friend, Rhonda, because we both love horror flicks and have very different reactions to them. She screams if something is scary and I just sit there. Before seeing this movie today, the funniest reaction she’d ever had during a horror movie was when she screamed so loud she scared herself again. But today, during a middle of the road horror flick, she screamed, grabbed the scarf I was using as a blanket, and used it to hide her face. All of this is to say the movie had some solid jump scares. But those jump scares weren’t enough to earn the three stars I’ve given this. The theater experience (and the awesome 80s soundtrack) is what made this extra enjoyable.
Things all ~40 of us shouted in unison at the screen:
-“Is he getting in the car?!”
-“Yeah, stab her, Luke!”
-“What are you doing, Luke?!”
-“Grab the gun!”
-“Shoot her again!!”
-“Get him, Kinsey!”
-“Chop his head off!”
-“Is she leaving Luke?!”
-“Shoulda chopped his head off…”
-“I guess she doesn’t have to go to boarding school now…”
-The lyrics to Total Eclipse of the Heart during one of the showdowns with the killers because, again, awesome 80s soundtrack whenever the dude with the truck was on screen
