Inferno ★★★★★

Argento's most vividly plush and enjoyably nonsensical film, Inferno looks jaw-droppingly good on the Arrow Video Blu-ray. Character, plot and motivation take a backseat, as Argento sets up a garish funhouse of architectural horrors in which to set his attractive, hapless victims (not counting the cat killing antique shop owner...) loose. From The Bird with the Crystal Plummage to Opera, Inferno is the Argento film that I'm least familiar with and most ambivalent about, but this rewatch was a real pleasure. How different a film it could've been if Argento had got his way and James Woods had been cast as Mark Elliot!
