Ηλσι (Louis-Charles)’s review published on Letterboxd:
As mesmerizing as the first time, if not more. You think that being aware of all the twists and turns might ruin the movie; on the other hand it makes it even better. Instead of always wondering what was going to happen next, I took my time to realize how perfectly Chan-wook Park's period's piece is crafted. He's a master at his best. He seems to have think of everything; really everything. I also realized that at its core, this movie is really just a love story; probably one of the strangest love story, but nonetheless a really sweet one. Something that didn't really caught my eyes on the first viewing was Uncle Kouzuki. This is one of the most despicable perverted man I've seen on film; you just hate him so much. One of the most rewarding second viewing I've had. I'll simply conclude the same way I did in my first review: as romantic as it's depraved, The Handmaiden is cinema at its purest form.
