Great film, though I am a little bummed that I didn’t love it quite as much as I expected to. Some parts felt a bit off, and I am not certain that all of the humor landed as strongly as intended. Still, it is a funny and cleverly written screenplay that manages to skillfully integrate grief as well; I definitely didn’t expect to tear up like I did (the butterfly scene!). There are also some notably good performances, especially from the kids. Jojo and Yorki are precious.
Overall, though I found Jojo Rabbit to be lacking in a few ways, I think it’s an enjoyable film with more positives to offer than not. I admire Taika Waititi’s vision.
