Lee Himbarger’s review published on Letterboxd:
“Love, Simon” more like I love Simon. Because I loved this movie. It’s such a great coming of age story, reminded me a bit of “Edge of Seventeen”. Overall the cast was really good, a lot of recognizable faces, but Nick Robinson who played the main character really did a great job. More than a few scenes standout where his acting really exceeded my expectations. Although I haven’t seen any of his other movies he’s been in ( I should probably change that) he really surprised me. There were a few goofy and over the top moments but 90% of the movie was handled in a way where it didn’t seem like a bunch of old people writing dialogue and character choices based on how they think young people act. And I think because of that it elevated this movie from what could have been some cheesy whatever story to something truly unique and special.
