Marilyn Manson: Guns, God, and Government - Live in L.A

    ★★★★

This is the LA gig in full.
There's a DVD of this tour which compiles footage from various shows throughout the tour, and the audio from this gig. I prefer that, but this is still absolutely solid. A must see for any Manson fan. If you don't like Manson at all then don't bother. He really is a marmite of the alternative world.

    Almost perfect in every way.
The DVD allowed you to pick camera angles, meaning you can watch the whole concert focused on any one single band member. Genius.
Set list is almost perfect. Visually awesome.
    Audibly euphoric.

Otherwise this was a solid, enjoyable concert which truly got me going after not watching a live performance of theirs for some years!

They did a very interesting (and different version of) All Within My Hands…

    I was left very underwhelmed.

Nicole Kidman was completely ridiculous in her role. Whispers, manic laughter, and mannerisms abound, she seemed amateur to me. The 'stoned' scene is ridiculous. Poor acting.

Tom Cruise is as convincing in his role as expected.

Kubricks style is very obviously here.

However, this (very) slow burner of an erotic thriller is not thrilling, and where Kidmans prolonged nudity and subject matter should make for…
