𝕎𝕚𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕞 (𝕃𝕖𝕠) 𝕧𝕒𝕟 𝕕𝕖𝕣 ℤ𝕒𝕟𝕕𝕖𝕟’s review published on Letterboxd:
I knew it was a good idea to save this film for the end of the year but I had no idea it would be this wonderful an experience. Essentially the epitome of my favourite kind of film, the slice of life story, Yi Yi seemingly condenses the entire experience of life-on-earth in a fleeting three hours. Birth, death, marriage, love, fights; it’s genuinely indescribable how a film about such mundane events can feel so complete and so entrancing. But I guess that’s the magic of mundanity; and that’s why I love it so much.
Anyhow, I think I might have a new favourite film of all time...
