On the one hand, I do not find a movie where a bunch of teenagers dance badly to trap music every other scene enlightening or artistic in any way, but on the other hand, I gotta say this is a terrific look at modern American youth culture.
There's some real world building here. Top notch acting from Sasha Lane in her debut, and I'll happily hand it to him and say that Shia LaBeouf stole the whole show.
Unfortunately the story does get a bit repetitive in the last hour, and the absurdly long run time is not justified at all.
However the gorgeous visuals and the immersive feeling you get from watching this are enough to keep you going to the end. The last scene in particular is pretty special.
