Thelma ★★★½

Well that was...erm...strange. Starts off as a social drama about a withdrawn girl at university discovering herself, with hints of a psychological thriller that eventually become more prominent. Trier's direction was great and every shot brimmed with creeping dread. The plot slowly makes more sense as the film progresses, and although I enjoyed the first half of the film much more, the second half overly ambiguous and uneven, I was always intrigued to see where this weird and surprising story was heading.
