Stripped down to its primal rudiments with a subtext as subtle as Trump's proposed Southern Border wall, Desierto spells the madness of blind hatred as it pits the supposed 'uncivilized' against the apparent 'uncultured'. The film is all the better - and timely - for it and is the best 'people hunting people' film for a good while.
