avant-garde films that could also be read as horror. looking more for films that engage with horror on the level of language and genre rather than avant-garde films that simply lead to affective responses of horror/terror/anxiety/fear/dread. also not looking for narrative films with experimental flourishes (with a few exceptions—in the case of someone like curtis harrington, i've added his pop work. also adding some stuff like TWIXT or PSYCHO at my own personal discretion). i haven't seen everything people have suggested so i'm trusting yall.
