I adore this film so much. Every time I watch it I find something brand new to eat up! This is an amazingly content-rich horror film. The length of the film works to Luca’s advantage in such a masterful way. The empty edit, the artistically contradicting soundtrack, the impeccable performances, every single aspect of this 2+ hour film firmly solidifies it as one of the greatest films I have ever seen. I’m still surprised that I never saw this film…
The complexity and deep seams that the director sewed in every shot and aspect of the film was beyond unbelievable. This was a masterpiece, but the standout was of course, Natalie Portman’s magnificent portrayal.
In conclusion... I may redo this when I have time because after watching it for my third time, I picked up so many new things from this film that are worthy to jot down.
The second I heard ‘cult’, my ears perked. This was a really entertaining film that would’ve been even more amazing had it been more developed in a way that really freaks the audience out. I was freaked out, nonetheless. The plot had a lot of creative potential, but should’ve been highlighted in a more thorough way. Still, it was intense and not too predictable—or maybe I’m just bad at predicting. Also, why was the cast so unnecessarily attractive? I needed to include that. In conclusion: white people are really crazy, except for Claire—oop.
