Watching the latest Oscar noms and those cheesy Lifetime Christmas movies. And everything in between.
It was fun to watch this over wine and appetizers with friends. But looking back on these recent Disney live-action remakes, it's so clear that they should be focusing on remaking their older films (Cinderella, The Jungle Book) and leave their Renaissance blockbusters alone.
This isn't to say a remake always has to be better than the original, and I'm definitely not saying that because I loved these movies growing up they shouldn't be touched. But the 90's Disney movies…
Have to bump up my original rating because this is so clearly one of my favorite, and one of the best, MCU films. Because as much as I love these Marvel movies, about half of them blend together while Black Panther feels like a breath of fresh air.
Watched this the evening of Chadwick Boseman's passing. It was incredibly cathartic to watch him portray King T'Challa, a character with so much life in a movie that radiates Black and African culture. Even two weeks later I still have little words to express this loss. He will be so so missed.
Baz Luhrmann created this masterpiece so that 17 years later Canadian National heroes Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir could express 20 years of pent-up passion, angst, and sexual frustration in a spectacular, spectacular performance as Christian and Satine on ice.
