Action scenes (such as the Paris chase) were nice until they started dragging on and on. Not sure if there are different cuts of the film but there also seemed to be some continuity gaps as the film progressed.
Not sure why reviews were raving about how this is the best MI movie so far, I can't think of any genre-defining scene here like that of Cruise rock-climbing in MI2, nor that climb up Dubai's Burj Khalifa in Ghost Protocol. To cap it off, the final scene between Cruise and a close friend was unnecessarily cringeworthy in the hero worship of the former.
