This has been the first movie I’ve seen in what feels like a while that really engaged me and reminded me of why i love the visual format and all the creativity that goes into making a movie.

Entire cast is awesome. I’m gonna have to check out more of Ti West’s other work now but X is a really good horror film that homages classic and tells a story about aging, lust, religion and more all wrapped into a dark comedy of a horror film. I enjoyed it!

Can we get back creative with our slashers (chainsaw?) films.. There’s so much potential and gore doesn’t make your film if you don’t care about the characters and the plot doesn’t make any sense. I don’t even know if i can fully comprehend what i watched lol

  • I Used to Go Here

    I Used to Go Here

    ★★★★

A really good indie dramedy film about a failed writer returning home and hanging out with college kids and discovering more about herself and that her writing maybe isn’t all she thought it was.. yet there’s freedom she finds in her experience with her younger “friends.”

Give Gillian Jacobs more roles! She was amazing and her ability to be charming and bounce between the dramatic and comedy aspects of the role really made the film for me.

Side note: why does HBO-Max have this in the romance section? Sure it involves kissing and sex but it’s not romantic whatsoever 😭.

  • Nightmare Alley

I would describe this movie as a cold and somewhat cozy experience. There’s not much warmth here which makes sense when you considered the themes and characters we’re dealing with. Talented ensemble full of amazing actors. The ending made the whole movie for me.

  • The Purge

    The Purge

    ★★

Predictable and waste of an opportunity with the purge itself, the home invasion could’ve been better since that’s the route they took.. but i liked the dynamic between the family and the homeless character that came to be towards the end.
