Seen at an advanced screening at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles
A clever and humorous take on the horror genre, writer Drew Goddard's directorial debut is a fun watch. The script, penned by Goddard and Joss Whedon, is clever, funny and genuinely scary at times. All the performances are great, with Kristen Connolly's Dana and Fran Kranz's Marty as the stand outs. The film is also full of little easter eggs, especially the white board and elevator sequence. A must watch for non horror and horror fans alike.
Cabin in the Woods is still great on a third watch. It's full of so many details and has a love for the horror genre few parodies ever have. Character actor's Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford are given the time to shine along with Whedon regular Amy Acker. I'm looking forward to Drew Goddard's next film, with or without Whedon. A must watch for anyone who loves the horror genre.
