THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE I'VE WATCHED IN A REALLY LONG TIME AND YOU SHOULD BURN ME AT THE STAKE FOR NOT HAVING SEEN IT UNTIL NOW. Also, whatever aesthetic Christmastime in New York in 1989 is, that's my whole aesthetic. Goodnight.
This was kind of a unique film. It actually kept me engaged and the suspense and lying was actually interesting. I think it was also Blake Lively's best performance in anything that I've seen, and I thought Anna Kendrick did a really strong job as well. Also, Andrew, sweet scene stealing Andrew, i love you.
Ok I really enjoyed this so much and not just for an aggressively young looking Domhnall and accents and Vanessa Kirby showing up. I thought it was really sweet and it made me kind of emotional tbh.
However, my one grievance: why did they spend so much time behaving like Rachel McAdams isn't one of the prettiest humans on Earth? I mean she's flawless, she has 2 fendi purses and a silver lexus, her hair's insured for $10,000, she does…
By far, one of my favorite lines from this movie and perhaps all movies is
"Leave me to do my dark bidding on the internet."
"What are you bidding on?"
"I am bidding on a table."
That is very reflective of the comedic brilliance of this movie. I cannot think of anything that so perfectly masters satire and Monty-Python sensibilities. I love this movie. I went in with very high expectations because of Taika, but wow did it deliver. Excellent.
