London’s review published on Letterboxd:
Ideal Home is not the ideal movie, in fact it kind of blows. Poorly written characters, a weak at best plot, and kind of terrible performances all around, including from my man Paul Rudd.
Ideal Home sounds amazing: a movie about gay cowboys. They are usually good and this one look at least a bit funny. Instead we get a film with extreme stereotypes and straight people portraying gay people. And portraying them poorly.
There just wasn't anything in the film to enjoy. It wasn't heart warming at all, it wasn't funny. Coogans character never even becomes a better person. They are all just terrible people who never face the atrocities they did in the past. But they are rich and white so wouldn't it be fun to watch them buy a bunch of things? The answer is no, not at all. Why do you do this to me Rudd?
