  • Dune

I will start by saying, if you have the ability to see this in IMAX, do it. Absolutely immersive from the soundtrack to the visuals.

Denis Villeneuve continues to prove why he is one of the best working directors. His ability to handle the scope and magnitude of such a project like Dune is intimidating and he doesn’t even break a sweat. He is able to make us believe in this fictitious world and get engrossed in the world of…

  • Candyman

When it was announced that a remake/reimagining of Candyman was gonna happen, I was less than enthused. I’ve spent a lot of time with the original and it’s source material. But when Jordan Peele got involved, I perked because I knew there had to be a similar love for the original for him to do it. You should know that Peele likes to deliver his horror with an entree of social commentary. If that isn’t for you, and you just…

    Fantastic Mr. Fox

This film is a cussing masterpiece!! I never thought Wes Anderson would be able to transfer his style to animation but it somehow works out even better.

The shear craft that went into making this film. We’re talking about time consuming animation where every detail has to be exact. Anderson and his crew slay every aspect.

The voice cast is remarkable and I think Clooney needs to do more animated films. Get him in a Pixar film. And somehow Willem…

Really would’ve loved this line from Chance:

Shadow in the mud hold still gets me in the feels. Who’s cutting onions over there!

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

This was my first time watching this film and it was such a delight. While not my favorite film from Wes Anderson, there is still so much to like here.

This is some of Bill Murray’s best work, right there with Lost in Translation, Caddyshack, and Groundhog’s Day. I know he can be tough for some people but the amount of empathy he is able to give this character will make you change your mind. Also, did we miss…

    Home Alone

This film was number #1 at the box office for 12 consecutive weeks. That will never happen again.

There was a time when I was a kid when I wanted every movie to be like Home Alone, to the point where my mom would have to lie to me and tell me that the new movie she rented was “just like Home Alone” just so I’d watch it.
