Captain Marvel ★★★½

I don’t really know what to think about Captain Marvel at the moment. Some things worked. Some things didn’t. I’ll just start with the things that work.

I didn’t think the Skrulls were going to work out in the MCU, but surprisingly they do. Samuel L. Jackson is great as always and some of the action scenes are really well done, but with that said there are some things that don’t work at all and they bring the movie down for me a bit.

I really don’t know if Brie Larson was the right person to play Captain Marvel. I can’t think of a single line that didn’t have awkward line delivery. In the beginning, it was sort of ok since she was a space ranger having to communicate on Earth, but it didn’t really change from then. I think this is partly the director’s fault since I don’t believe Brie Larson is a bad actress, but I still find it hard to believe that no one asked for a second take to get some lines down right.

There were two major twist in the movie that I saw miles away, so I don’t really think I can call them twist, but rather plot points.

The thing that really brought me here besides my immense loyalty to the MCU was the talk of the Stan Lee tribute in the movie, and I gotta say that it was truly amazing and even if I don’t think the movie was perfect, the tribute was.
