    The Power

Pretty solid middle of the road movie. Starts off pretty awesome actually. When this chick is wandering the halls in the dark and getting tugged at by unseen forces...this rules. When it winds down and has a lot more down to earth story, its eh ok. Definitely a better first half.

Say what you will, this is one of my favorite movie adaptations of a TV show. I grew up on the show back in the day and loved every minute of it. Have not revisited it since, but I feel like this captures enough of the main beats.

The big plus in this is the choice of the cast. Everyone fits their role well if a bit more aggressive than the original cast, but I do like the modern take…

    The Dark and the Wicked

I have two complaints. First, too many LOUD NOISES and jump scare garbage that made this annoying to have to volume up and down constantly to hear people talk. Its not like the movie was riddled with it, but enough that it was annoying. You can tell when most are about to hit, but some are right after/before quiet talk.

Second, this feels like it needs a why. There is all this insanely creepy stuff happening with absolutely no reason…

    "At least your drinking again"

I remember a few years ago when this came out and everyone was all over it. Well I'm late to the party, but here I am and the hype was real. Gosling and Crowe were quite the duo. Good story, good cast, funny. Loved it!

  • The Untamed

    The Untamed

Checks country of origin...somehow tentacle sex slave monster movie did not come from Japan nor is it animated.

Saw some Youtube movie channel I follow talking about tentacled monster movies and this one was on the list. Week or two later and its on Shudder so I dove right in. Right off the bat you get a tentacle fist deep in a tuna and a lot of this movie revolves around getting laid in one form or other. The drama…

Did a blind buy on this one since it was cheap. Saw the name and thought it would suck, but then checked here and saw decent scores so gave it a shot. Saw the PG-13 and regretted it, but watched it and feel pretty good. Emotional rollercoaster I know lol.

What I really dug was that even though PG-13, it was still a good movie. A lot of times that rating means aimed at kids and/or dumbed down, but this…

  • Game of Death

    Game of Death

I will say that this is pretty original, imo. Mileage may vary, but I really enjoyed this a lot. There is a bit of Funny Games in here and maybe a few other movies that came to mind. The characters are all shitty to the point you want to see them all die horribly and that helps sell this for me. The inclusion of the video game bits in the title screen and a few other places and the board game itself sealed the deal. I thought this was pretty stylish, mean, bloody, and entertaining all at once.

When I saw that this was about murderous pants, I knew I had to watch it. Fortunately, this was pretty decent and not some kind of trashy low budget thing. Sure its dumb, but that's the point. All in all, pretty fun time.

Swing and a miss on this one. Take Ed Norton's character from American History X and toss him into The People Under the Stairs. You have now seen this. Saved you a watch.

  • Highlander

So I haven't watched this in many moons. First off, did not realize it was a Cannon film and after rewatching this, it certainly shows. What's amazing is how many cool things this manages to have even though its kind of a bad B movie. Would love to see a good remake.

    Wrong Turn

Ok, let's try to explain my feelings on this. For starters, I think I've watched the original, but if so its been so long I don't really know anymore. Heard this one had a pretty cool twist to it and saw it on sale so snagged it. Now I need to watch the rest at some point.

Anyway, I would start by saying that this was well made for the most part. Camera shots all look good and I'd compare…

Guess I wasn't at the point of writing reviews the first time I saw this. Really only remembered that I liked this and was curious to see what younger me thought, but apparently he was just too lazy to be bothered.

Anywho, still a pretty great movie and looking at it now is pretty interesting. The movie is kind of dry in a lot of ways and you get this odd version of Adam Sandler. He's his typical dopey self…
