Halloween ★★★★½

Hooptober 5.0: #1 of 44

I adore that John Carpenter cares about the backstories of his villains, it makes their evilness more substantial, in Halloween Michael Myers feels much more horrifying because you know what he's done before and what he's capable of but still leaves a lot out of the screen, his motifs for instance but that's what makes him a great villian, Michael Myers is a pure evil. John Caprenter knows the genre so well, it's scary, his knowledge of everything that is bad and good with the genre of slasher, his brilliance as a director and soundtrack that still slaps you in the face, make Halloween stand out amongst many other slasher films who use similiar patterns.
