Sam’s review published on Letterboxd:
I don’t mind being disturbed, but I really can’t handle being scared.
I don’t enjoy movies like this at all, especially when I watch half of it through my fingers and try to ignore the sudden sound cues... Horror films rely on gore and paranoia and the supernatural in attempts to cover up plot holes and utter ridiculousness. I’m NOT about it.
This one had a great setup, and some stunning cinematography/framing, but at the end of the day it fell into tropes that felt rather gimmicky. (Ok but Toni Colette though?? Tbh I watched this film for her.)
I just hope one day I’ll find a thriller that’s actually interesting. Killing of a Sacred Deer, anyone?
