Blake’s review published on Letterboxd:
As most of you know Batman is my favorite superhero. To me he represents getting through tough times stronger than you were before, and using your head to handle situations. His character reminds me to live by my morals and try to always do what is right even though it may not be the easier option. He also reminds me to stay strong, but to also be mindful/thoughtful and to not just tough it out. I understand why some may consider Batman to be a bad superhero, but you will never convince me of that opinion. His character has affected me in so many ways and I truly believe he played a big part in who I am today. Batman the Long Halloween was the first Batman comic book I ever read and is the origin story to one of my favorite Batman villains. Even though this movie strayed away from the first part of this comic a little bit and had some slightly choppy dialogue, it did a fantastic job of keeping the gritty feeling the comic book has. Overall a really decent film. Even though it doesn’t hold a candle to the masterpiece of a graphic novel that The Long Halloween is, it was still a solid animated Batman film that was entertaining to watch.
