The French Dispatch

The French Dispatch ★★★½

I...liked it? for the most part? I vibe with mr. anderson so i enjoyed myself enough, but i couldn't shake the feeling that it was something intensely personal to him that just wasn't connecting with yours truly. every performance is great, my man knows what to point the camera at, i love the handmade effects, etc etc etc, but something left me wanting a little bit, the middle story in particular. Felt on some level like a less-successful version of Grand Budapest Hotel!

a weird little detail!! this felt VERY much like "a pretty good graphic novel" and then it turns out it was filmed in Angoulême, the site of a quite prestigious comics festival. Anyway i wonder if that is on purpose!! okie doke. pretty good but bottom-third wes for me.
