Like I get why this is kind of dumb and sloppy but it strikes me as so genuine, passionate, and legitimately energetic that I can’t help but love this movie every time I see it, even if it’s sloppy and unfocused at times. A+ for semi desperately achieving its hip bubbly electronic aesthetic and showing like 6 fucking montages throughout the movie including an end credits one where it’s nothing but people dancing. Efron kills it, Wes Bentley should’ve gotten awards, and this one of my favorite movies ever lmao.
Kinda dug this is as a cheap little 70s/80s esc gritty action sci fi midnight watch type of thing. Green still isn’t that good but physically-speaking he does some cool stuff and the camera being locked onto certain movements was a fun way to go about all this even if the choreography and most of the action scenes were slightly underwhelming. Ending could’ve been better if they didn’t go with an awkward fade to black. But whannell does a nice…

Such an interesting movie. So much good stuff but so much questionable/not good stuff. So I'll just list what I thought:
-Hamill slips RIGHT back into the role and it is so great to watch.
-looks BEAUTIFUL. Nice vibrant colors (specifically red), LOTS of fast dolly ins, and awesome use of rack focus. Film terms!
-Rey's awesome and Daisy Ridley OWNS the role
-Poe is so much cooler this time around
-Crait is a really cool planet
