The Dark and the Wicked

The Dark and the Wicked ★★★½

As its house/America rots from within, what menaces the younger generation are no longer faceless strangers, but their own roots, well-known habits and values. Oedipally, the moribund father/power deals with his decay while the mother/religion is perverted, but this unmeasured (hubristric) path remains yet to be followed. The wicked hides precisely in the darkness one refuses to go through, since it is certainly easier to transfer hers/his fears elsewhere - either demons or "the exotic other".
