Steve Jobs ★★★

Several ingredients I like, but they don't amount to much of anything. The structure of Aaron Sorkin's script is sometimes refreshing, but it often feels like a conceit designed just to be overloaded with walk-and-talk Sorkin conversations, which becomes very grating. And because it only shows us three seperate moments in Jobs's life, we end up learning nothing about him other than the basics (he was a dick, he was adopted, he got fired from Apple at one point, etc.). Boyle is mostly restrained, but when he makes himself known (transitions between acts, and the final 10 minutes), it becomes clear that he was the wrong choice for this material. I didn't hate this, however, the actors give it their all and most of it is very entertaining; I just was frustrated by the weightlessness of it all
