This film’s ending makes Knives Out’s look like a chump…

When a movie with old, British humor still makes me laugh, that’s a pretty key sign it’s timeless. I was cracking up all through the brisk two-hour runtime. What else can I say? This was thrilling, hilarious, and genuinely shocking (seriously, I was smiling in awe as the last ten minutes played out), with strong characterization of all major players. Every single character felt instantly recognizable, as if we already…

This film is equally the epitome of “clever” in terms of the technical filmmaking, plot structure and reveals, and tension and mystery creation and also entirely built around the theme of “watching hot people win is nice.”

    Yes, that’s a theme.

Soderbergh knows audiences watch movies to share experiences with pretty people, to feel smart enough to follow its plot but not to outthink the movie to the point of predictability, and to have fun. Literally, that is Ocean’s Eleven. That’s all it is, all it needs to be, and all good movies ever will be, potentially to the end of cinema. Love this film.

Some of the most off-the-walls fun comic book movies have ever been. The dynamic between Tom Hardy and Tom Hardy’s modulated voice is incredible. Hardy is one of the most talented humans on this planet. The fact he has story credit on this makes me so happy. He’s having a great time and I can just tell. Also, perfect run time. Just perfect. Genius run time. Brilliant, even. And plus, the after-credits scene made me very giddy and excited like…

My first Hitchcock movie! How embarrassing!

I was nervous to watch this movie. All I hear about it is how perfect it is, and the same for Hitchcock himself as a filmmaker. I had high expectations, and no idea if they’d be met (and, if they weren’t met, would it have been my own fault?). But they were. Consistently. In every single scene (except the second to last scene… I blame it on the restrictions of the era, I guess…
