I have no idea what to say because I DID like this, I DID think it was very good, I loved the way the flashbacks are done (aspect ratio change, grainy film, choosing not to deage instantly making it feel like a memory) and I WAS completely riveted by the performances. but I was also conflicted about the commentary on the vietnam war regarding the vietnamese people. it was an immoral war! and it wasn't their war! and black people were used as cannon fodder and then discarded! and this shit needs to be SAID. but I guess I'm always wary of any american-made vietnam war movies because... i don't trust them to fully condemn what the US did to vietnam (in my opinion as an outsider).
I hope you all enjoyed this totally over-the-place review
