Luke Williams’s review published on Letterboxd:
I am so tired of people complaining about the human characters in Godzilla movies. The best Godzilla movies have good human characters and Kaiju action. I thought that the human characters in the new Godzilla movie were fine and that there was a nice balance between human and kaiju scenes. The human characters in the original, Gojira, are some of the most compelling characters I have ever seen. Invasion of Astro-Monster has one of the best human casts of any Godzilla movie. Nick Adams and Akita Takarada are very entertaining protagonists and Yoshio Tsuchiya as the controller of Planet X is one of the best villains in the entire franchise. The kaiju only appear for a few minutes in the movie, but the movie never gets boring. Godzilla and Rodan’s brawl with King Ghidorah in Planet X is one of my favorite kaiju fights. This is one of my favorite Godzilla movies and it shows that these movies can have entertaining human characters.
