Ana Maria’s review published on Letterboxd :
this brand of magical realism (the latinx/spanish kind) is the one i love most, where ghosts haunt kindly and normally. both saura and torrent have masterful ways of depicting/reacting to ghosts, ways which call back to the death of my own grandfather, and his ghost, who i saw often at night as well.
the best films manage to be highly personal while also reaching a universal audience, and this film is one of those, at least for me. playful, dark, full of heartache (the scenes of Ana’s face! it was a silent, creeping heartache far removed from pity or any other trite feelings), and full of wonder.
wow, again .
