  Part of what makes this strong satire as opposed to just a laundry list of left talking points is part and parcel with what might make this objectionable to some- that Beatty starts rapping and appropriating the talking points of black Americans. The persona his character adopts feels like a real-life political gimmick- think of senators who start speaking Spanish or whatever, intended as admirable but looking foolish and unaware at the same time- and his moral crusade here is…

  Really clicks into place when you realize the Russos produced this. A parent enters the multiverse to reconnect with their estranged kid, but the multiverse mostly consists of recognizable movie references, 2001, Ratatouille, Wong Kar Wai, Crazy Rich Asians… overlong, overschematic and frustratingly limited.
