“You are an escape from our normal lives.”
— Alex Goran, Up in the Air
I absolutely adore this film! Not knowing anything about the background/true story it was based on, going into this blind was the best thing I could have done; the story was very intriguing for me, and wanting to know what really happened is what kept my attention to the end of the film. I loved how it was put together as well. The flashback-esque style, uncovering the “mysteries” one by one, I found really enjoyable. And the music! Lastly, I am absolutely in love with Vera Farmiga's very entertaining Alice Bercovich. This is a film I would love to see again.
It took me a while to finally watch this film, because I was iffy about the subject (faith and religion), but I'm glad I finally did, because I can totally relate to the main character Corinne's dilemma. The film doesn't try to preach anything; rather, it is an experience, that leaves viewers to think and decide for themselves. For a film about faith, there was also a lot humor (sexual humor) in this. I loved the chemistry between Vera Farmiga and Dagmara Domińczyk. Their scenes together were my favorite.
