Mache’s review published on Letterboxd:
Part satire, part horror, part drama, and 100% a surrealist nightmare that loops in on itself, with seemingly parallel timelines and an increasingly tenious line between fiction and reality.
This movie is an absolute behemoth to unpack, but even so I felt like the vast majority of it was pretty straightforward (as mostly it was just the two girls talking about a somewhat standard movie plot, however satirized).
However the scenes that really stood out were the ones employing Lynch's nightmarish logic, namely the diner scene and the murder scene (which is hilarious).
Anyways I feel like a solid chunk of the middle portion of this movie could have been cut out and it would have benefitted, but what do I know- I'm nowhere close to really understanding this thing. Is anyone?
