Period pieces make me sick, but this one has everything most are missing. That it’s not boring me to death.
Score is absolutely killer.
The pace in this movie has a nice steady flow to it, slowing at the correct points to emphasize loss.
Guillermo’s movies have dream like fantastical whimsy to them which would be almost childlike, if not for the darker elements throughout.

Someone has an appreciation of both the Jurassic Park and Alien series' but doesn't make it overt; just a couple solid nods to 'em.
