Taron Egerton really brings it in this. He totally embodies the outlandish and wonderful personality of Elton John to the point where you almost really believe he is Elton John. The movie fully embraced not only his eccentricities but the darker side of his life, the drugs, the sex, the alcoholism, his relationship with John Reid, etc., although I wish they would’ve gone into his addictions and reasons behind it in a bit more detail. I also really enjoyed the more artistic flair they gave some of the musical numbers - shying a bit more away from the standard performance type and literal copying of detail that Bohemian Rhapsody did. I enjoyed both this and Bohemian Rhapsody - although the editing in this was much better in my opinion. Overall Rocketman is a pretty decent film and does a very good job at entertaining.
