Their Finest ★★★★

I'm all in for this sort of Powell & Pressburger era nostalgia anyway, but it escalates in the genuinely shocking third act from a fun, charming trifle to something really great. Gemma Arterton finally gets a leading role worthy of her talents and it's actually possible to forget how good Bill Nighy is until he's called on to do more than just his Bill Nighy thing, which hasn't happened since About Time-ish. A hugely enjoyable love letter about persevering through storytelling.
