Promising Young Woman

Having read so many negative and mixed reviews I'd already made up my mind about finding the exact turning point where the movie was going to lose me but it never came.

That doesn't mean I don't clearly see why some people disliked it or are even offended by it, the subject matter is a very complicated thing to write about but I admire how confident the movie feels when it goes to the darkest places and even reaches the point of throwing some humor into the mix. It's mainly a movie about guilt, people who are consumed by it and people who only function by burying theirs.

In the movie just like in most real life scenarios everyone live their days ignoring the pain they've caused others and I always admire a movie that is willing to throw morality on a balance and lets the audience decide who deserves pain the most.

This is no strange territory for Carey Mulligan, she's always picked characters that aren't asking for anyone's sympathy. They're bold, messy, difficult to follow but captivating. Her talent always excels. My only issue with the movie lays in how predictable it is but it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the heck out of it.
