Uncut Gems ★★★★★

So many strings to follow here. Like a Travis Bickle, Charlie Kelly, Robert Graysmith room of journals and walls of photographs, an incoherent mess with a perfect order. A cobweb we, the flies, are caught in, spun by Howard Ratner.

His wife, his girlfriend, his enemies, friends, co-workers, all jumbled together in a run on, screaming sentence of frustration, fake wealth, performative luxury. The life of an “uncut” gem, if you will. Sorry.

Crime drama with all the moving parts of a Scorsese, The Departed, Wolf of Wall Street. Comedic as a rat-pack Sandler flick. Romantic and swooning as a Punch Drunk Love.

Oddly enough, reminded me immensely of Cléo de 5 à 7, in that single perspective, set timeframe, character journey. A sick singer for 2 hours, an unlucky jeweler for a weekend.

There’s not a single thing I don’t find magnificent. I had an idiotic smirk the whole time. I used to have Kevin Garnett jersey when I was ten; couldn't find it when I got home, unfortunately.

Reminds me so much of my dad, in the best way.
