Definitely the weakest Whale I’ve seen, but has some strong qualities. Mainly the practical effects are astounding for their time, like I have no idea how they did these things without green screens. But yeah nothing compared to either Frankenstein film, the main reason being that there is barely anything empathetic about The Invisible Man. He murders cold blood, he’s fucking insane, he threatens to rape and kill people, he commits mass killings. He’s a rotten apple for sure.
I will say though, I highly disagree with anyone who can’t see that there’s nothing sexual/gay being subtlety put into a film where a guy is constantly intimidating people because he walks around completely naked, and then he wrestles and attacks them completely naked, and he uses taking off his clothes as a threat against other men. Food for thought.
