Jonny’s review published on Letterboxd:
Let me start if by saying this movie features a song from Sigur Rós so it's already won.
Pieces of a woman is a wonderful film. It's sad and it's stressful and emotional but it also has some beauty to it.
I don't want to get into the plot too much as to avoid spoilers but the first 30 mins of this film are jaw dropping and an incredible feat of filmmaking.
The entire cast is for the most part is incredible but it would honestly be a crime if Vanessa Kirby does not get some kind of nomination for this film. A strong case can also be made for Ellen Burstyn who has multiple show stopping scenes.
The only complaint I would have is that the first 30 minutes are almost so good that the film definitely peaks there but there are still plenty of good moments afterwards.
I would not be surprised if this is at the top of my list once this year comes to an end.
