Jonny’s review published on Letterboxd:
For a movie with metal in the title, I didn't expect it to feel so soft and serene.
What a powerful film. Obviously it's shinning feature is it's incredible sound design. The way it is used in this film to juxtipose and represent both what Ruben is hearing and what he isn't is incredibly powerful and leads to some really emotional moments.
The rhythm of the film is kept by Riz Ahmed's extremely grounded and believable performance as Ruben, as well as everyone around him.
If I had to critique it, the film maybe runs 10 minutes too long, but it's detours never feel purposeless. As well Ruben's character arch is nothing new and isn't reinventing the wheel but it's presentation is where this film sets itself apart.
And that ending, wow
My favorite film of 2020.
