Mark Cunliffe 🌹 Vote Labour 🌹’s review published on Letterboxd:
This was the 1999 stage play that led to the long-running Scottish sitcom which has only recently ended. Written by stars Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill, this is resolutely a theatrical piece in its format, not only with its singular setting and three performers, but also with its momentum building towards drama. But the DNA of the sitcom is here, and one of the things I always liked about Still Game was that, if you scratch the veneer of the broad brushstrokes of dressing-up box comedy and the big laughs, there was always a solid and surprising dramatic heart at the core, with scripts that never shied away from issues that genuinely face the older generation; bereavement, loneliness, poverty, longing and nostalgia.
